Over the river and through the woods took on new meaning for us this Christmas as we braved blizzards, ice and canceled flights to gather at Sunriver, Oregon for Christmas vacation. What a beautiful, snow-filled week -- sledding, skiing, lots of rockin' band music, WAY too much food and (oh yes) the stomach flu.
Best line of the week was from Nash who, tearing the paper from his main present from Santa, announced "It's a box!" as he turned back to play with the bubble whistle he got in his stocking. Everyone who opened a gift after that was sure to say, "It's a box."
Or Dylan telling the Christmas story: "And then they said, "Wise men, look at his teeth!"

Or who knew Derek could sing all the words to "Beat It" on Guitar Hero.
Here they all are, waiting to come down on Christmas morning.
Steve and I made sure we got out on the cross country skis on Christmas day. We started out on snowshoes, but the snow was so deep on the golf course we decided to go back for our skis. The sky was blue, the trees loaded with snow and the air so still we felt like we were skiing through a wilderness instead of down the golf course. Another skier stopped us to ask directions and when we pointed back to the tee box of hole #2 he said, "So I go right across this meadow...." It felt like a meadow, that's for sure.
So now we're home waiting for Heather to spring the "Get in Shape" spreadsheet on us. It's a race to see who can look the best by Marina and Brian's wedding. Marina said it had better be her and I totally agree. She is the bride after all.
Tomorrow is 2009 . Time to get back to work. Ah, it feels kinda good I have to admit.

This vacation was so much fun! It was nice to just relax with the family and soak in the company of one another. I loved it. Brad
